Channel 888, the student run television news station at Shanghai West High School, is on the air!
It’s the year 2030, a not-too-distant future where self-driving cars are a reality and smart phones are really smart -- as in, they can project moving, talking holograms into the air! In this age when people travel by jetpack, every high school has its own news station that broadcasts school and local news daily. The school’s high-tech studio is just like a real television news studio, except the anchorperson, reporters and behind-the-scenes staff are all students.
And the star reporter on Channel 888 is Kurhn, an attractive teenage girl who exemplifies the best of Chinese virtue and serves as an inspiration to her friends, classmates -- and nearly everyone she meets! The China Dolls series will explore Kurhn’s world where she and her diverse group of friends all work for their school’s television station, reporting on stories at their school as well as going all over Shanghai in pursuit of interesting news.
Episode storylines will be driven by Kurhn’s quest to be a good reporter for Channel 888 as, at the same time, she grapples with the challenges of growing up, maintaining her friendships and doing well in school. Balancing all that is not always easy for Kurhn, but by sticking to her core values, she usually triumphs in the end – with a lot of fun along the way!
